Royal King Cake Baby Opossum
It's officially Mardi Gras Season!! And that means King Cakes! A king cake is like a cinnamon roll in the shape of a giant flat donut. And the BEST part of a king cake is not even the cake!! It's what's hidden inside—a small plastic or porcelain baby.
Whoever gets the baby in their slice of king cake is said to have extra luck all year long. They also get to host and/or bring king cake for the next Mardi Gras party.
Each King Cake Baby Opossum is made of glazed clay and is the size of a traditional king cake baby (about 2cm tall). They are nontoxic, but we recommend keeping them as keepsakes. Hiding porcelain babies in cakes has led to many cracked teeth!! In the olden days maybe this didn't matter so much but these days we're all about oral health! If you must have your seedling covered in cinnamon, you can hide the baby under the cake and everyone can check under their own piece to see if they got the King Cake Baby!
